Details & Inspection Notes

The OER 3938640 is a two-piece floor console housing, top and bottom sections together, for 1968-69 Chevrolet Camaro models, molded in injection ABS to the factory dimensions.

Size and surface

By OER's figures, the wide end of the housing measures 39 inches end to end, 9.5 inches across and 5.25 inches tall, while the narrow end comes in at 4.5 by 3 inches. The surface carries the correct Madrid grain texture, matched to the original console lid, and the glove box area gets the same soft flocking treatment as the factory piece. OER matches this housing to the Base, RS, SS and Z28 trims for 1968-1969 Camaro cars, and it works with either an automatic or a manual transmission.

What is not included

This is the shell only. OER sells the shift plate, the gauges, the lid and the ashtray as separate, add-on pieces apart from this housing, so plan on sourcing those too if your console needs them.

Finish

Black is the only color it ships in; match it to your interior afterward using OER's own interior paint, purchased on its own. Confirm your Camaro's trim level before ordering, since coverage is listed by trim rather than across the whole model line.

Does it fit manual and automatic cars? Yes, OER designs it for use with either transmission type.

Is the shift plate included? No; the shift plate, gauges, lid and ashtray are separate items.

Performance Installation & Verification Checklist

  • Disconnect vehicle battery ground terminal before installing any electrical, sensor, or powertrain hardware.
  • Inspect all vacuum lines, fuel lines, and wiring harness connectors for secure, leak-free engagement.
  • Calibrate electronic sensors, boost control solenoids, and ECU maps according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Perform initial datalogging check under light load before subjecting vehicle to wide-open throttle.
