Details & Inspection Notes

Low hood clearance and fuel injection aren't mutually exclusive here: this low-profile, deluxe-dressed 383 keeps the usual 436-horsepower, 443-pound-foot, 10.0:1 rating while using compact ignition and cooling hardware to fit under a tight hood, plus a full front accessory drive.

Compact dress parts

BluePrint swaps in a 6.75-inch harmonic balancer and a small-cap distributor, tach drive and coil built in, next to a premium vintage air cleaner and matching valve covers to buy back hood clearance. Spark plug wires route under the headers for Rams Horn-style manifolds. Fuel comes from the Holley Sniper EFI system over an aluminum intake, and a front drive package handles the water pump, the alternator, the compressor, and the steering pump, though BluePrint notes it does not fit all Corvette applications.

Before you buy

This package does not include a fuel pump or its feed lines, so plan that into your build. The drop-base air cleaner measures up to 11.5 inches tall from the block's sealing surface, and BluePrint says confirming clearance for hoses, wiring, and fittings falls on the installer. It's not for pollution-controlled vehicles, and it carries the same 30-month, 50,000-mile coverage window BluePrint quotes across its 383 range.

Does it include the fuel pump? No, that part is left out of this package; you will need to add your own before it can run.

  • Startup warranty covers internal lubricated components, cylinder heads, and engine block for 30 days from delivery.
