Details & Inspection Notes

Billet Specialties cast aluminum valve covers, polished and embossed "Chevrolet," are what separate the HP94CPOL from the black-dressed version of this same 383 stroker, which makes 415 hp at 460 lb-ft of torque either way. It is the same complete carbureted build, finished for show as much as go.

What ships installed

A Quick Fuel 680 CFM carburetor runs vacuum secondaries and an electric choke underneath a round Super Flow air cleaner, sized 14 by 3 inches with a washable filter element inside. Fuel arrives via an 80 gallon-per-hour mechanical pump and a dual-inlet AN stainless line, a chrome-housed 180 degree thermostat keeps temperatures steady, and a black HEI distributor supplies spark. The polished covers themselves still carry a matching PCV valve and push-in breather.

The stroker underneath

Displacement is 383 cubic inches, built from the same bore and stroke ATK uses across this stroker family, with aluminum cylinder heads, hypereutectic pistons figured at 9.7:1 compression, timed by a double roller chain, over a Scat rotating assembly. ATK wants conventional 10W30 oil with a zinc additive mixed in through the first 3,000 miles, with 91 octane fuel afterward.

Q: How does this differ from the black-dressed version? Confirm specifics with us before ordering; the visible difference is the polished rather than black finish on the valve covers and air cleaner, with the same carburetor, fuel pump, and ignition underneath.
