Details & Inspection Notes

The ATK HP36C-EFI swaps a carburetor for a Fitech Go EFI 4 600HP throttle-body kit on the same 435-hp, 475-lb-ft 383 stroker platform ATK sells with a carburetor; AFR's aluminum heads return here too, 72cc chambers, valves at 2.02/1.60.

Why choose EFI over the carbureted version

Throttle-body injection generally tunes itself better across temperature and altitude swings than a fixed carburetor jet, and Fitech's handheld controller lets you adjust fuel curves without pulling the intake. Scat's forged rotating assembly, nodular-iron crank and I-beam rods, anchors this stroker's bottom end under forged pistons at 10:1 compression, and the Edelbrock dual-plane intake, distributor, water pump, and balancer all ship mounted alongside the EFI hardware.

Planning your fuel system

  • Fitech supplies the throttle body, wiring harness, and handheld unit, but not a fuel pump.
  • Either an electric fuel pump or a mechanical pump run through Fitech's Fuel Command Center will work.
  • Oil pan and timing cover ship installed; flexplate and flywheel are left to match your transmission.

Common questions

Can I use my existing carburetor instead? No, this version is set up specifically for the Fitech throttle body, not a carburetor.

Do I need a separate fuel pump? Yes, this kit does not supply one; an electric unit works, and so does a mechanical pump routed through Fitech's Fuel Command Center setup. California requires BAR compliance for engine swap installations.

Startup & Installation Checklist

  • Inspect all external gaskets, seals, spark plugs and timing components prior to installation.
  • Refill engine oil, transmission gear oil and coolant to manufacturer-specified capacities before initial cranking.
  • Prime the lubrication system and verify ECU wiring pinouts, sensors, and ground connections.
  • Startup warranty covers internal lubricated components, cylinder heads, and engine block for 30 days from delivery.
