Details & Inspection Notes

This is a complete right-hand quarter panel assembly for a 1968 Firebird coupe, built as a full reproduction rather than a thin outer skin, so it includes structural sections that a simple skin panel would leave out.

What makes it a complete assembly

Unlike a quarter skin, which only replaces the visible outer surface, this part reproduces every component found on the original quarter panel, including the door jamb section and, since this is for a coupe, the roof sail panel area as well. That makes it suited to a car where the original quarter panel's inner structure, not just the outer skin, has rusted out or been damaged, since a skin alone would not address those areas. It is also described as officially licensed by GM, meaning it is built to match the factory part it replaces.

Fitting notes

Because this is a full assembly rather than a skin, plan the installation around removing more of the car's original quarter structure, including the door jamb and sail panel areas, and test-fit the new panel against the door, trunk, and roof before final welding. Confirm the car is specifically a coupe, since the roof sail panel section included here would not apply to a different Firebird body style, and make sure the right-hand side is what the project needs, since this panel is sold for that side only.

Performance Installation & Verification Checklist

  • Disconnect vehicle battery ground terminal before installing any electrical, sensor, or powertrain hardware.
  • Inspect all vacuum lines, fuel lines, and wiring harness connectors for secure, leak-free engagement.
  • Calibrate electronic sensors, boost control solenoids, and ECU maps according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Perform initial datalogging check under light load before subjecting vehicle to wide-open throttle.
